Year 3

Welcome from the Year Three team!

The teachers are Mr Hampson (Morocco and Phase Leader of Lower KS2), Miss Pickett (Egypt) and Mrs Stripp (maternity cover) (Madagascar).  They are supported by  Mrs Bradley  (Learning Support Assistant).

We warmly welcome you to the first year of Key Stage 2.

The children will be building on their previous learning and developing new skills and knowledge through our creative and diverse curriculum. Our topics in Year 3 include ‘How did they survive?’ - Stone-Age, ‘How did the Greeks change the world?’ - Ancient Greece and ‘What do you need to flourish?’ – Plants and transition.

We organise educational trips in Year 3 as part of the children's learning and they will also have the opportunity to learn to play the ukulele as part of an enriched music curriculum. The children will have weekly ukulele lessons and we look forward to sharing this with family and friends throughout the year.

The children will bring home both reading books which reflect the child's ability and library books which are chosen freely by the children. We encourage reading and sharing of books at home and also the practising of number skills such as number facts and multiplication tables. We also provide a choice of topic and maths homework, which the children can complete and return to school to share with their teachers and friends.

We are very happy to see you about any questions or concerns you may have at any time during the year. Please feel free to either talk to us at the end of the day or make an appointment via the office if you would like to talk in more detail.

Make sure you keep an eye on the Y3 Twitter and our school Facebook page for all the current and up to date learning!
