EYFS

Welcome to EYFS and the children’s first year at Billingshurst Primary School.

The teachers are Mrs Walker (Year Leader), Mrs Footer, Mrs Hunt and Mrs Langley.  They are supported by an experienced and friendly team of Learning Support Assistants.

We know how important a good start is to every child's future and we do everything to give your children the best start here in Early Years.

The Early Years Foundation Stage is organised in seven areas of learning. These are Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Communication and Language, Physical Development, Literacy, Understanding of the World, Mathematics and Expressive Arts and Design. Our planning is led by the children's interests but driven by the skills the children need to move their learning forward. We identify next steps for learning for individual children and these are shared regularly with parents and carers.

Our learning environment is well resourced and exciting; we think it is a lovely place to be as well as learn! Children have access to inside and outside areas throughout the day - we think it is vital that children are given real opportunities to learn outside as well as indoors.

The children are involved in the setting up of the learning areas and their ideas lead to a constantly evolving environment. We provide resources and activities that enable and support learning and encourage the children to become inquisitive and keen learners.

The children settle into their life at school extremely well and we take great pride in making sure that your child is happy at school. We also work hard to ensure that we develop an excellent working partnership with parents and carers; your support and interest is vital to your child's progress and happiness. We want the children's first year in school to give them a zest for learning which they take with them throughout their school life!

If you have any questions or concerns the team can be contacted via reception@billingshurstprimary.org.uk or on the door in the mornings and afternoons.
