BPSCA

What is BPSCA?

Billingshurst Primary School Community Association BPSCA is our award winning PTA with a difference.

We are parents, carers, teachers and members of the local community all working together for the benefit of the school and its pupils. We welcome anyone in the local community to join with us to help raise funds for Billingshurst Primary School. We are always looking for new fundraising ideas and new members to make the ideas come to life. We meet once a month, on a Friday at 2pm in the school staff room.

You can contact us at bpsca@billingshurstprimary.org.uk

Why “BPSCA”?

When we formed in February 2011, we wanted to show how we aimed to include anyone from the local community from childminders and grandparents to neighbours and local businesses. We wanted to be more than a PTA so we decided that the best way to show this was to use Community in our name.

What do we do?

We raise extra funds for the school to allow our children to benefit from extra resources and experiences that the school budget does not allow. We organise a number of fundraisers throughout the year for children, parents and the local community to enjoy. These include Quiz Nights, Film Nights, Children's Quality Sales, Design a Christmas card, Christmas Trugs, Spring Fair and our biggest event, the annual Summer Fun Day.

Where does the money go?

Every year, BPSCA donate between a quarter and a third of the annual funds raised to the outdoor project. This ongoing project has transformed the main school field into a range of activity areas for the children to enjoy all year round. We have helped to install a jumbo climber, the clock house - an outdoor classroom, bench seats, a story telling space and trim trail stations. Every year we donate funds to each year group to put towards a trip or special visitor and contribute to a variety of special items for school such as a PA system, ride on lawnmower Christmas lights, play ground toys or supplies for a school club. We also fund the Year 3 ukulele scheme, Year 6 leaver’s party; contribute towards Maths, Science and English weeks and a whole host of requests from staff and pupils throughout the year.

How can you help?

If you can spare any time, come along to a meeting and see if you would like to join us. We all share in the organisation of events and any time you can give is very welcome. You don’t have to attend every meeting and if you can’t make it to the meetings, you are still welcome to contribute ideas to us by email. Help is always needed on the day of an event, so please let us know if you would like to be on our list of helpers and we will let you know when and where we need you. Above all else, please come along and support any event at the school. We are here for the benefit of the whole school and you can make every event a great success!

BPSCA JustGiving page

Our funding opportunities lost since March 2020 through to the end of this year will be in the region of £13,000. Faced with this reality, we have decided to open a JustGiving page for anyone who wishes to make a donation. We are hoping to raise funds to go towards completely rejuvenating the key stage 1 library. Please click this link if you are able to offer your support and do share the link widely:
